Daikin backs young engineers

YEA-email-headerUK: Daikin UK is helping develop tomorrow’s building services engineers, by sponsoring the CIBSE Young Engineers Awards.

Now in its 18th year, the CIBSE Young Engineers Awards recognises outstanding graduate engineers, their skills and innovative thinking, as well as forward-thinking employers who encourage and nurture young talent.

“We are proud to sponsor the CIBSE 2014 Young Engineers Awards as part of our Future Thinking campaign, which encapsulates Daikin UK’s sustained commitment to the development of next generation engineering skills and professional training,” commented Daikin UK md, Dirk Slagmulder.

“Supporting the Young Engineers Awards is close to our heart because it offers a fantastic introduction to the engineering industry for ambitious young people. People are in fact the most precious resource for any engineering company and, in the face of today’s growing skills shortage, there is an urgent need to champion young people in the industry, whether through a commitment to supporting the professional development of young people already in employment or by supporting those employees through further education.

“The awards are also important in that they recognise the merits of those employers that have made it their responsibility to develop the engineering talent of the future; as we face increasing challenges in designing a sustainable built environment.

The winners will be announced at the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) in London on October 9. For more information visit the CIBSE website.
