HPA vice chair Max Halliwell dies

UK: Max Halliwell, vice-chair of the Heat Pump Association and communications manager for residential heating at Mitsubishi Electric UK LES, has died suddenly.

The brother of former Spice Girl, Geri Halliwell, Max was elected vice-chair of the HPA in January and had been with Mitsubishi Electric for 15 years. He joined the UK business in 2006 as product manager after five years at the Building Research Establishment as a senior consultant.

In a statement, Mitsubishi Electric said: “Max was a beloved colleague and a passionate advocate for all that he did. He will be deeply missed by us all. Our thoughts go out to his family, friends and colleagues at this incredibly difficult time.”

Heat Pump Association chairman Phil Hurley said that the entire heat pump industry would be “shocked and saddened” at his passing. “Max was liked and respected for almost two decades as an industry ambassador for heat pumps, often in the front-line of influencing government policy to decarbonise heating in Britain’s homes. Colleagues and competitors alike regarded him as a friend, and he will be missed by all who had the  privilege to work with him.”
