IoR seeks apprenticeship assessors

UK: The Institute of Refrigeration is looking for members prepared to join a panel of independent apprenticeship assessors for the new Trailblazer apprenticeship.

Referred to as the End Point Assessment Panel this will be established by City & Guilds later this year to check evidence provided by each apprenticeship candidate. This will include assessing the candidates’ theory and practical exam results as well as written evidence from actual jobs they have recently completed. The assessment panel will also have the final say on whether the apprenticeship is awarded at pass, merit or distinction grade.

“This final assessment stage will be critical to raising the standard of new entrants to our industry, and ensuring consistency across different employers and training providers, the IoR says on its website.

Panel members will need to have a technical qualification, recent experience in the sector and be a member of the IoR or other professional body to take part. Those interested are invited to contact the IoR to find out more about what is involved.
