Kingsley recognised on winners night

UK: Kingsley Curtis, the late chairman and owner of HRP, was remembered at this evening’s Cooling Industry Awards with the posthumous award of the Fred Jamieson Award for Industry Achievement.
The award was the one poignant note of the evening as over 600 representatives of the UK refrigeration and air conditioning industry gathered at the Hilton in London’s Park Lane to celebrate a long list of successes.
With comedian Alun Cochrane orchestrating the proceedings, Mitsubishi Electric was probably the biggest winner, picking up the Air Conditioning or Heat Pump Innovation of the Year category with its City Multi YLM VRF and the Heat Pump Product of the Year with its Ecodan FTC5.
The first award of the night went to George Shepherd, who was named National Student of the Year. George is employed by J&E Hall and was trained at Grimsby Institute.
That award set the scene for recognition for the Cool Science project which was such a success at promoting refrigeration to young people at this year’s Big Bang Young Scientists’ and Engineers’ Fair at the NEC. Cool Science won both the Environmental Collaboration of the Year Award and the RAC Gold Award for Chris Vallis and all those involved.
