Murdoch is BESA employment director

UK: The Building Engineering Services Association (BESA) has appointed former trade union official Michael Murdoch as director of employment affairs.

He replaces Peter Rimmer, who has retired from BESA after over 25 years service. He joined the staff of what was then the Heating and Ventilating Contractors’ Association on 1 June 1990, following employment in the nuclear industry.

His replacement, Michael Murdoch, was previously director of the MSc programme in Human Resource Management at the University of South Wales. Before that, he spent 22 years as a trade union officer with AEEU-Amicus before it merged with the Transport and General Workers’ union to form Unite. He is also a member of the ACAS Arbitration Panel.

BESA negotiates with Unite over the building engineering sector’s operative national agreement and environment engineering Industry staff salary agreement.
