National latest to increase gas prices

NRL-logoUK: National Refrigerants is the latest refrigerant supplier to announce price increases of up to 20% from January 1.

The increases are said to reflect increases in supply prices that the refrigerant repackager is experiencing from its European supply partners.

“The explanation given for the increases are due to poor profitability of the current HFC businesses which need to reflect the need for improved margins in order to continue the investment in low GWP energy efficient alternatives required under the onset of the imminent F-Gas regulation,” reports the company.

The largest increase of 20% is reserved for the high GWP (>2,500) refrigerants R23, R404A, R422A, R422D, R434A, R507, R508. Refrigerants with a GWP of under 2500, such as R134a, R410A and R407C will see rises of 10%. There will be no price increase for the lower GWP replacement gas R407F or the new HFOs R1234yf and ze.

French manufacturer Arkema recently announced a 20% increase on all its HFC refrigerants in Europe and last month Mexichem announced an immediate 10% increase.
