UK: A new name in air conditioning – Pure Air Distribution – has been established as the first UK distributor for the newly-relaunched Chinese brand Haier.

Based in Guildford, Pure Air Distribution (PAD) has sprung from the ashes of former UK Daikin distributor Space Airconditioning. The new company will spearhead the relaunch of Haier in the UK (Haier reveals European relaunch plans).

While the company name may be new, the people behind it have long experience of the UK air conditioning market. MD Mark Houghton spent a total of 12 years in two spells at Space, latterly as commercial director. He is supported in the new venture by Lynne Ford as sales director, Bridgette Fernandez as business development manager, IT manager Edward Callaghan and accounts manager Laura Taylor.

All were former Space employees, between them clocking up over 80 years with the company which went into administration last year.

Speaking about the new business, Mark Houghton said: “The demise of Space was a disappointing situation, but we now have the chance to continue with a new and exciting product range.”

Also, being well aware of Haier’s previous reputation, he has been impressed with the latest ranges. “The product now is really top quality,” he said.

“We want to create a partnership with the contractor to make sure the customer is completely satisfied,” he added. This will include offering a design service and site visits when the equipment is installed. A six-year warranty will also be offered.

Pure Air Distribution will offer the product nationwide and plans to appoint two regional sales managers within the next 12 months.
