Anne King receives the honorary membership certificate from BSRIA chairman Tom Smith

UK: BSRIA marketing director Anne King, who is retiring after 37 years with the company, has been awarded honorary membership of the Association.

This is only the 10th time this honour has been awarded in BSRIA’s 60 year history. It has been made to recognise an extraordinary contribution to the Association and the promotion of best practice within the building services industry.

Anne first joined BSRIA in 1978 from a major petrochemical company.  She was initially involved with the stats and forecasting unit and set about revolutionising the department turning it into the Worldwide Market Intelligence division which today is recognised as a truly global leader in the provision of market intelligence information for the building services industry.

In her role leading the membership and marketing teams, Anne was responsible for the implementation of BSRIA’s first CRM system, the development of the BSRIA website, the development of new products and services for members including the successful BSRIA Networks.  Anne has also been active in the promotion of new processes such as soft landings and BIM.

Anne was appointed to the Board in 1998.  During this time BSRIA has seen its turnover grow to £12m, with overseas offices located in Beijing and Chicago.

In 2010, she was awarded the MBE in recognition of her 30 years’ service to the building services sector.

Impressed by her hard work and commitment to the Association and the industry, BSRIA chairman Tom Smith said: “Anne has been integral to the development of BSRIA and should feel rightly proud of her accomplishments and for those accomplishments I would like to thank her on behalf of the board, the members and the building services industry”

Julia Evans BSRIA’s chief executive said “As BSRIA celebrates its 60th year, Anne has played a crucial role in the development of the new 2025 Strategy, so putting into place the foundation for further growth and development, supporting our Members and the industry and in itself a wonderful conclusion to the magnificent contribution Anne has made to BSRIA over the years”.
