Waitrose store project is award winner

UK: Airedale International and an energy efficient Waitrose store were among the winners at last night’s H&V News Awards in London.

The new Waitrose branch in Chipping Sodbury, opened in October, won the Collaboration of the Year category for the efforts of Waitrose, Synergy Building Services, Carter Retail, Weatherite, Total Contracting Solutions, Emerson Climate Technologies, Next Control Systems, JA Sylvester and T Clarke in bringing the project to a successful conclusion.

The 21,000ft2 store is the greenest store within the supermarket’s chain. Its many environmental and energy saving features include LED lighting throughout the store and the utilisation of the hydrocarbon/water refrigeration system developed with Carter Retail Equipment.

Leeds-based Airedale International picked up the Commercial Building Services Product of the Year for its SmartCool CW SD/SN/SR precision air conditioning system, the company’s next generation, highly energy efficient data centre unit.
