Williams first with CESABIM

Williams BIM compliant productsUK: Williams Refrigeration claims to be the first refrigeration manufacturer to offer fully BIM-compliant models to the industry.

By 2016, all public-funded projects in the UK must be undertaken using BIM (Building Information Modelling) software. Manufacturers, designers and suppliers of catering equipment will have to produce BIM-compatible 3D models of their products in order to have them specified.

Along with its sister company Falcon Foodservice Equipment, Williams says it is among the first handful of manufacturers to have their BIM models available through CESABIM (www.cesabim.com). This online catering industry library for BIM models was launched last Wednesday, July 2,  by the Catering Equipment Suppliers’ Association.

CESABIM is a non-commercial library of BIM models and data, prepared in IFC (Industry Foundation Class) format, which can be used on all proprietary software systems, including Autoscheme, ArchiCAD and Revit. There are over 150 BIM programs that support IFC files and CESABIM is free to use for designers and specifiers. It is expected to help reduce construction costs and allow effective planning and control.
