INDIA: US manufacturer Carrier has confirmed a $100m investment in a new manufacturing facility in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh, India.
According to Carrier, the new facility will increase manufacturing capacity to support growing domestic and global demand, with a focus on high-growth sectors including data centres, commercial, real estate and critical infrastructure.
Earlier in the year, local reports said that Carrier had plans on a 39-acre site, creating 3,000 jobs.
Carrier chairman and CEO David Gitlin, who broke ground on the new facility this week, acknowledged the importance of India as one of the company’s most important growth markets.
“As demand for high-performance, energy-efficient cooling continues to accelerate, particularly in data centres and critical infrastructure, we are deepening our commitment by building, innovating and investing in India to scale our manufacturing, engineering and digital capabilities for long-term growth,” he said.
The new facility builds on Carrier’s nearly 40-year manufacturing presence in India and complements Carrier’s existing engineering and innovation hubs in Hyderabad and Gurugram.
