HKT to cease compressor production

GERMANY: HKT has announced that it will cease production of its Goeldner refrigeration compressors at the end of this year.

A specialist manufacturer of open and semi-hermetic reciprocating compressors using natural refrigerant ammonia, ammonia/dimethyl (R723) and hydrocarbon refrigerants, the company can trace its compressor manufacturing history back over 80 years.

A statement on the company’s website says that HKT will discontinue production of Goeldner compressors on December 31. It adds that it will continue to supply service and offer spare parts to existing compressors and will honour all warranty obligations.

“Unfortunately, the small-batch production of Goeldner compressors can no longer be economically viable or the required price can not be achieved on the market,” the company says.

Goeldner & Co was formed in 1939 from the company Goeldner & Bock, which had been established seven years earlier. Manufacturing and distribution rights were taken over by HKT Huber-Kälte-Technik GmbH in 1987.
