Hoshizaki completes shift to “naturals” in Japan

JAPAN: Hoshizaki is to complete its transition to “natural” refrigerants in the Japanese market with upgrades to its commercial refrigerator, freezer and refrigerator-freezer models.

While the company was among the first to develop commercial refrigerators using “natural” refrigerants and started selling these overseas in 2009, in Japan this didn’t start happening until August 2022.

Hoshizaki will now complete the transition of all standard commercial refrigerators to propane (R290) and isobutane (R600a) for the Japanese market with the launch of 251 new upright models and 113 undercounter models.

The new models will start shipping from the middle of this month and will sell them through its 15 sales companies across Japan.
