Italian authorities seize 14 tonnes of illegal HFC

ITALY: Italian customs and law enforcement agencies have seized over a thousand cylinders of refrigerant, containing around 14 tonnes of illegal HFC gas.
Following a tip-off, three individuals were observed unloading cylinders from a truck and loading them onto a van in a parking lot in Scafati, Salerno.
The suspects were followed to a warehouse of a company in Pompeii where other empty cylinders were found, classified as special waste.
The goods were allegedly illegally released for consumption through a paper mechanism of “closing the shipment”, which fictitiously configured the arrival of the load at the customs office of initial destination, although the product was physically located in another place in the national territory.
