Japanese show cancelled due to coronavirus concerns

JAPAN: The HVAC&R Japan 2020 exhibition, scheduled to be held from March 3-6, has been cancelled as a result of the coronavirus outbreak.

The Japan Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Industry Association announced the cancellation of the biennial show on Friday. It was due to be held at the Makuhari Messe in Chiba. The last event in 2018 attracted over 25,000 visitors.

A statement on the show’s website says: “This decision was made due to the growing number of cases of the novel coronavirus in Japan and around the world.”

The cancellation of this important Japanese show follows the postponement of the China Refrigeration Expo 2020. There are now concerns for the Italian Mostra Convegno Expocomfort show next month following a spike in confirmed cases in Italy over the weekend and the lockdown of a number of municipalities in the Milan area.
