App is handy refrigerant reference
FRANCE: UN Environment OzonAction has introduced a new smart phone app providing information on ODS, HFCs, HFOs and other alternative refrigerants.
Intended for customs officers, Montreal Protocol national ozone officers, as well as refrigeration and air conditioning engineers, the What Gas? app provides a quick reference tool in identifying a refrigerant gas.
The app is searchable via a variety of methods and provides a wealth of useful information. By entering partial information or browsing the database, the application will provide quick reference information on many aspects of each individual chemical. This includes the chemical name and formula; type of chemical, common trade names; various chemical and commodity identifiers (CAS numbers, ASHRAE designations, HS codes, UN numbers, etc); as well as other useful information such as flammability and other hazards; the ozone depletion and global warming potentials and whether or not the chemical is controlled under the Montreal Protocol.
The app includes both pure substances and blends and is available for free from Google Play and the Apple Store.
