Copeland KF scroll for US cold climate heat pumps

USA: Copeland has announced the launch of the KF variable-speed scroll compressor with EV4 variable frequency drive platform in North America.

The KF is described by Copeland as a premium variable-speed scroll compressor for the 1.5 to 5 ton North American residential market, designed for premium comfort, especially in cold climates.

The Copeland KF variable-speed scroll compressor platform is optimised for R454B and is engineered to meet future efficiency standards – supporting both regulatory compliance and peak system performance.

The compressor’s heating-optimised design boosts capacity in low-ambient conditions, meeting the DOE’s cold climate heat pump (CCHP) requirements for 100% capacity at 5°F.

Its 10:1 turndown ratio provides strong efficiency across a wide range of operating conditions and has the potential for advanced features like vapour injection.

The KF platform will be produced in North America, ensuring regional sourcing and supply chain assurance for OEMs.
