Daikin extends Altherma 4 R290 range

BELGIUM: Daikin has added a smaller range of its Altherma 4 EPSKS series R290m heat pumps in 4kW, 6kW and 7kW capacities for mid- to highly-insulated houses.

First launched in April last year, the Altherma 4 EPSK series is the first Daikin heat pump for residential applications developed to use R290 refrigerant.

Said to operate at outside temperatures as low as -28°C, the Daikin Altherma 4 provides space heating via radiators at 55˚C and via underfloor heating at 35˚C, as well as domestic hot water up to 70°C.

Cooling is also available as required. A leaving water temperature of 70°C/75˚C supports traditional hot water radiators.

Dedicated Daikin safety components are included in the design such as a gas separator to prevent refrigerant exposure, factory mounted anti-freeze valves, sealed switchbox and gas sensor with automatic fan operation.

Redesigned in a new compact size of 958mm(h) x 1220mm(w) x 535mm(d), the latest Altherma EPSKS series outdoor units feature ergonomically positioned PCB and factory-mounted components. In addition, reduced water piping size and minimum water requirements simplify installation and cut costs.

An intuitive smart interface with a new 5in colour touch screen MMI, with WLAN standard included and remotely updated software, is said to offer easier, faster and intuitive navigation control. Daikin insists that the new MMI and software simplifies pump set up, and allows installers to remotely consult parameters.

End users are able to monitor the unit’s energy consumption and adjust home temperature settings on a room-by-room basis, using the Daikin Onecta app.
