Carel wins beverage innovation award

GERMANY: Carel’s Heez beverage cooler controller has won the Best Environmental Sustainability Initiative award at this year’s World Beverage Innovation Awards.

The awards, presented during last week’s Drinktec 2017 exhibition in Munich, celebrate excellence and innovation across the global beverage industry and recognise the most innovative products and technologies on the market. The awards judges considered 227 entries from over 33 countries in 25 categories.

“The fact that Heez won this award emphasises Carel’s excellent reputation as long-standing company driver of innovation within the industry and validates our efforts and our approach towards a more responsible and sustainable industry,” said Alessandro Greggio, Carel Group head of refrigeration and retail.

Heez is Carel’s new integrated solution for the control and management of beverage coolers. It features a DC inverter that drives variable-capacity rotary compressors, modulating DC fans and stepper valves, for total modulation. It incorporates a number of innovative control logic and auto-adaptive algorithms that exploit the benefits of these technologies. These include dynamic set points and preventive actions, and self-learning routines to ensure operation in optimum energy conditions at all times.

A Heez applied to a Frigoglass Easyreach Express unit is said to have achieved energy savings of 40%.
